But I don't buy songs to listen to on my BlackBerry or on my phone! I listen to songs on my iPod (or other MP3 player).

I'm trying to use Nobex Radio Companion on my BlackBerry but I get a screen that tells me that it "could not connect to its servers. Please verify that you have a working wireless connection." What's this all about?
Nobex Radio Companion needs to be able to connect to its servers via the Internet, to get updated song info. There are many causes which may prevent Nobex Radio Companion from accessing the Internet. If you get this message, the first thing to do is make sure you have a working wireless connection to the Internet by opening the Browser and seeing if it is working. If so, then common causes for failure are (1) using an inappropriate connection method and (2) a lack of permissions. See the next two items for details.

When setting up Nobex Radio Companion, it offers me to change the "Connection Method". What is this and why should I change it?
The BlackBerry handheld connects to the Internet via an Internet access point. Nobex Radio Companion allows you to select the appropriate access point for your BlackBerry account by selecting an appropriate Connection Method. By default, this setting is set to "Auto". As such Nobex Radio Companion will attempt to pick the appropriate method based on your handheld configuration. If you are unable to connect to the Internet, you may wish to manually select which method to use by changing the Connection Method.
Currently Nobex Radio Companion supports the following connection methods:
1. BES - This is the recommended setting for users with a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) account.
2. BIS - This is the recommended setting for users with a BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) account.
3. Carrier TCP - This is an alternate method provided by some carriers.
Important Note: If you select "Carrier TCP", you must verify with your carrier that this service is provided. Your carrier will provide you with an "APN", "Username" and "Password", which must be entered in the TCP screen accessed via the BlackBerry Options / Advanced Options screen. Some carriers may charge extra for using this method.

When setting up Nobex Radio Companion, I get a screen with a red border saying that it "could not connect to its servers because it has been denied Internet access. Please grant Internet access via your handheld settings or contact your administrator for assistance." What should I do?
On the handheld, go to BlackBerry Options / Advanced Options / Applications, and highlight "Nobex Radio Companion". While highlighted, select "Edit Permissions" from the menu. Expand "Connections" and set the necessary connections to "Allow" (e.g., Company Network, Carrier Internet, Wi-Fi).
If you are using a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server), you also need to make sure your IT policy grants you Internet access. Contact your BES administrator for assistance.
